explorer extraordinaire

Being a new resident to our nation's capital pushes me to explore and use all she's offering.  That was the plan for the weekend, to survey the land, explore and scout the town. We kicked it off quite some distance away in Lancaster, barn-side at a lovely wedding. That isn't surveying the land, you may think. So let's bring it back. Saturday, I jumped on my first-class two wheeler and steered around DC. Shopped a quick minute in Georgetown, passed by monuments and visited the Smithsonian. I love, LOVE riding bikes around the city! I feel fortunate having these facilities in my neighborhood. So watch out! I promise to take full advantage of you.

It ended with a bang. I met another local fashion blogger, Kiara from FUNKIbuddy at the Adams Morgan Day Festival. She is just that-funky! and super sweet. Creative minds are the real deal.

Make Something

The rain has finally stopped after 5 days! Being inside for a day or two was nice, but after day four I was suffering from cabin fever. The gloomy skies sucked the motivation from me like a kid with a milkshake. I accomplished very little, but the last night of rain I summoned my creativity and made some overdue cards.

i LOVE card-making. It's very nostalgic and fun. I use scraps of paper, ribbon, newspaper clippings, fabric, buttons, whatever inspires me.  Personalizing the card to each recipient and finishing it with a thoughtful note! Paying $5 for a card I could easily make is absurd. Hope this pushes you toward something creative!

Fringe-DIY

On the hunt for fringe? I am, or was. Well, now I need one less- I should say. Simply alter an old t-shirt and the transformation is fun, hippie fringe!

Supplies: t-shirt and scissors.
Instructions: take a pair of scissors and cut vertically to desired length.

And Ta-dah! My desire for fringe satisfied with no cash spent. Love it!
