Ready Set DC Presents Fashion:District

I had the opportunity to walk the runway at Ready Set DC Fashion:District last weekend. It was a blast! a BLAST!   All the hype and excitement backstage set the tone for the evening. Being transformed to match the designer's collection created a certain persona for each model.  For me, it was a combination of anxiety and eagerness. But once you step out on the catwalk, you feel confident, powerful, giddy, and free. Until you fall! I didn't. I think your confidence abandons you after a fall.

These funky patterns and unique shapes are designs from Artaya. Last month, I attended another fashion show for Artaya and was so drawn to her style. Of course, I was thrilled to model for this show. There were several talented DC's designers showcasing their spring and summer collection as well.

Huge thank you to Dana Greaves of Artaya for having me!

what remains of DCFW

I was slightly lazy and didn't post the events as I went. Sorry. So, here are the remains of fashion week which include: a networking party hosted by Dirty Bar, the menswear show and an art event that featured Artaya by Dana Ayanna Greaves. The Artaya show was by far my favorite show. The designs, materials, patterns and outfitting were so funky and original.

DCFW day one

The energy at Perkins +Will architecture firm last night was, eh, sustainable? It was also exciting and inspiring and motivating! DC Fashion Week debuted with the Eco-Fashion Show, in which the designers used sustainable and eco-friendly materials.  It was a great reminder to be conscious of the environment and to minimize our carbon footprint- even through fashion.

H Street Festival

fellow blogger, Star. click here to see Star's blog

DC's H Street Festival was overflowing with culture, diversity and a wide array of entertainment. From fashion shows to pie eating contests, the festival offered enjoyment for everyone. I took the role of a spectator and observed the fest while sitting on the curb. People watching is one of my favorite pastimes.
