Valentine's Replay

Valentine's consisted of card, candy and love making. Making cards is kinda my thing. And, puppies, PUPPIES are cute and create that fuzzy, warm feeling.
I found the recipe here.  I've been really digging this blog. She has some great pancake recipes and healthy alternatives to your favorite foods.  I had been wanting to try the peanut butter cups and V-Day seemed like the perfect occasion.
They were delicious.
XOXO

Suddenly off! on this fine Monday

just as the title states, suddenly I have Monday[today]off. Here's what I've decided to do with my schedule now free.

I am going to alter some thrift finds.

Made some sweet potato fries for lunch. Sprinkled with cinnamon and salt-yum!

Going to work out! Hopefully, I can look like Kate Hudson here. This makes me laugh.

Some other options for today: photo shoot, cuddle with the pup, figure out photoshop... hmmm
buh-bye!

Make Something

The rain has finally stopped after 5 days! Being inside for a day or two was nice, but after day four I was suffering from cabin fever. The gloomy skies sucked the motivation from me like a kid with a milkshake. I accomplished very little, but the last night of rain I summoned my creativity and made some overdue cards.

i LOVE card-making. It's very nostalgic and fun. I use scraps of paper, ribbon, newspaper clippings, fabric, buttons, whatever inspires me.  Personalizing the card to each recipient and finishing it with a thoughtful note! Paying $5 for a card I could easily make is absurd. Hope this pushes you toward something creative!

the aspirations of apparel.

here are 6 great ways to conserve money and contribute to sustainable merchandise.

TOMS. For every pair you purchase, Toms gives a pair to a child in need.
These pair yielded two shoes to two children.

Save your jars and make awesome canisters to hold nuts, grains, beans, sugar, flour- anything.

Tins shouldn't go to waste either. Find a use for them. Pen holder, cotton ball/q-tips holder, keys, change. It adds some character. Very vintage.

Tired of paying $3 for herbs and wasting half before you can use them. I was. For 2-3 dollars an herb, you can create a small herb garden inside or outside. It was actually very easy. My basil died 3 times before I mastered it (a local  gardener gave me some tips), but I was persistent. I love basil. Other than that- Simple.

Tarte cosmetics are paraben, phthalates and sulfate free. Made from all natural ingredients with recycled packaging. I have had this cheek stain for a year and a half with plenty life left. Very long lasting.  The skin in your face is the most delicate, treat it well.

This was a special gift from the lovely Brittany. She crafted this journal from scratch, even made the paper. What a special gift.
