A Cathedral and a Rooftop

The rain nearly ruined this rooftop shoot. Gwynne and I took advantage of the surprising sunshine and warm weather that followed the dreary rain. This 55 degree January day had me confused about winter. It seems she's clarified any confusion over the weekend though,  it's freezing! Winter has me hibernating and slightly depressed. Spring must come soon for my sanity. It's killing my social life. I rarely leave my house besides work.  

So, the rooftop and the National Cathedral. Well, about a month ago I realized I have unauthorized access to the roof. How fortunate that one of the keys opens the door. With the cathedral directly across the street, this location seemed rather perfect for a photo shoot. Gwynne, a fellow blogger and jewelry maker, joined me and, boy, was it a blast. She also brought me a funky, recycled earring she made! Of course, I wore it.  We gave our best posh looks, but couldn't help laughing at our, well, my, failed attempts. And the shadows, well, that was plain  fun.

Took a few days visiting my friend, Casey in Harrisburg, PA and returned with these! Rummaged through the basement of a thrift store (where she works), and found mostly vintage treasures. The most treasured find: a Christian Dior robe for $8. Well, it's a between the robe and the classic high waisted trousers. 

We finished with some refreshing vegetable and fruit juice- cheers!

If you have never been to a thrift store, GO. Thrift stores have variety: funky, vintage, new, retro, costumes, decor, house ware. For me, a thrift store is a treasure hunt. With a little patience and determination, you are destined for a smashing outcome. The motivation of second hand shopping is: economical, reusing, reducing waste and sorry to mention this again, but inexpensive! Prefer a more modern thrifty? Try Buffalo Exchange or Plato's Closet, where you can sell and buy clothes. Great alternative to the convention thrift.

"dress up" re-visited

We all loved playing dress up as kids. And I still love it! To fashion oneself in all things beautiful with no regard to others' opinions is freeing. As children we were carefree and daring. Let's grasp that fearless attitude and be bold. There are no restrictions or limitations. Dress up, let your hair down, and let your freak flag fly! It's your life, have fun with it.

I decided to play a little dress up. I have yet to wear this beautiful, black, lace dress. Waiting for the perfect event to rock this one.
